Description:

The ways in which we encounter and "manage" disability in our profession as school leaders, centre around institutional and bureaucratic understandings of disability, access, and inclusion. While we all strive for inclusion for all students, there exist opportunities for new meanings to emerge, particularly how disability makes appearances in schools and how we respond, or don't respond to those appearances.

This session will begin to unpack and untangle some of those understandings not just around ableism in schools, but also provide new ways to begin to think through disability, that goes beyond what we typically think of as "special education", and even "inclusion and access".
