Description:

Indigenous students have a right to an education in their own culture that is free from discrimination.  It is important to create space for Indigenous people to lead educational initiatives that will impact Indigenous students. This session will discuss the work of opening the Maawnjiding Wiigushkeng Centre for Indigenous Excellence and Land Based Learning in the Peel District School Board and the importance of creating space that centers relationships First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, families and community, built in trust and mutual respect.
